Quarantine

04/03/2020

Dear World,

We imagined 2020 as this epic year. It's a new year, a new decade for that matter. New beginnings, new memories. We didn't think it'd kick off with a disease. I'm only but a Senior in high school. And I can speak for every graduating student by saying this. This is not fair. As much as some don't like school, they always look forward to their senior year. It's the most important year. I mean, prom,Graduation, Senior activities. The last moments of your high school career. But now all that, it's.. gone.

Now the world is to stay at home, especially those at risk. Only gas stations, and grocery stores are open to reduce the amount of people coming in contact with the virus. So if you're like me, there's not much you can do. Your ankle is sprained, you can't do anything more than walk. Siblings come and annoy you ti the point where you go insane.

Keep yourself busy. My brothers and I made three board games. I color in my free time now. Grab a book,go on an adventure. Write a short story, or even a book. Write a song, a poem, something to keep you busy and from going insane. All this quarantine and social distancing is a real bust, but if it keeps everyone healthy, then quarantine on.

Some people have been taking chalk and decorating their driveways and sidewalks with inspirational, and sweet, and just pure messages. "Be happy" "We got this" "You're loved." "We'll get through this". And a whole bunch more. My cousin and I started that today as well. We mixed in these messages with the feelings of Easter. People also put teddy bears in the windows to let people know that things are going to be okay. And especially for the kids walking outside, scared that they are going to die, or something's going to happen to them. It's small things like these that make a cloudy day into a positive sunny day.

Find something to do that makes you feel like you inside. And enjoy the next few months of distance learning and social distancing. That doesn't mean you can't talk to your friends. You can, just from 6+ feet apart. And it's not like you're on house arrest. Goon a walk, ride your bike, do something that makes things seem normal. There's nothing to fear but fear itself. All the quarantine is, is a protection from the virus for you. To keep you healthy and safe.

Happy Social-Distancing!
